Come help Wyoming Farm, LLC prepare for the planting season in the orchard. One hundred Chinese chestnut trees will arrive on March 22nd from Empire Chestnuts in Ohio. Before they arrive, the old planting sites must be tended to, including weeding and inspection of tree tubes. The new planting sites must be determined and flagged according to the existing modified keyline design used for the previous plantings. Once flagged, the sites must be dug to a depth of 18 inches using a hydraulic auger that we will rent from a local rental store.
Planting will begin once they arrive which is expected to be March 22nd. Volunteer opportunities will be determined day to day at this point depending on labor availability and weather.
Training on how to properly plant and care for bareroot trees in an orchard setting when the workshop begins so please arrive promptly.
