Wyoming (Clinton, MD)

Wyoming is a frame historic house located in Clinton in Prince George's County, Maryland. Construction began in 1799 and was completed in sections through 1850. It is the traditional home of the Marbury Family who were given the land in late 1690s by King George of England. The house was the seat of a large tobacco plantation in the possession of the Marbury family until 1973 when it was bought by Gerard T. Dunphy, an English immigrant. Wyoming was registered with the National Registry of Historic Places in 1980. It remained a country of home of Gerard Dunphy until 2014 when Colin Dunphy, his son, made it his full time residence. The site is noted for a Marbury family cemetery, old barns, and a very old planting of English Boxwoods (Buxus sempervirens Suffruticosa).                                                                                                                                                                                ...Learn more about Wyoming
