Dear Friends of Wyoming Farm,

We are sorry to say  we are not hosting the Balkan Chestnut Festival this year, but we will host it again in 2027.

This decision weighs heavily on us because of how much this festival community has meant to this farm. However, because of a combination of issues, it would be too difficult to host a festival this year. 

For one, we have no chestnuts. Due to a late frost back in spring, we lost  our crop  this year. However, the trees survived and will be back for next year. 

While in other years we would consider buying chestnuts from a provider like Route 9 Cooperative, we have some projects on the property that need to be finished before winter, like the overlook area above the orchard. Nature is less to blame here, unless we include my proclivity for injury, or the weather that pulls me in different directions. Regardless, once the overlook  is complete, we look forward to festival guests having a deeper experience on the farm and in the orchard. 

So, as our chestnuts have taken the year to get stronger and healthier for next year, we will do the same. Thank you for understanding and being part of our community.
